Today, as we all know, marks the 50th anniversary of the assignation of President JFK. Obviously, I was not alive that day – but from early childhood I have always been fascinated with the Kennedy Family; perhaps in party because I grew up in Massachusetts. I have always felt that I lived/live in the wrong era & Jackie Kennedy Onassis has been a source of inspiration for me as a role model for manners, class, motherhood and style – starting when I was in grade school.
My own wedding gown- that my mother designed & made – was entirely inspired the gown she wore when she wed JFK. So, instead of watching the reels replaying the horrors of that day, 50 years ago… I’m choosing instead to reflect on some of the happier days of their days.
Here are some of my personal favoites- and, it strikes me how each of these moves me…it’s the candid, real moments that matter the most.
One of my favorite Jackie O quotes that hangs in my home is: “There are many ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is best of all.”
